About This Project

Health architecture, especially future needs planning are complex and Cotter Reid Architects have vast experience in masterplanning, space audits and change management of this extremely intricate “jigsaw”. Another masterplaning project for Barwon Health was for the redevelopment and  expansion of various departments and services at the University Geelong Hospital Acute Site and immediate surrounds. With many stages and relocations required for effectiveness, exact details and close contact with Cotter Reid Architects Directors and team was required for successful delivery of this project.  Project elements included Intensive Care Unit (ICU) refurbishment & expansion; redevelopment and expansion of Perioperative & Waiting List Services; Mental Health expansion; Redevelopment of Outpatients area; Refurbishment of existing Red Cross building for Outpatient Services expansion; New Cafeteria, dining area & meeting facilities, with provision for additional private tenancies; Relocation of Executive, Marketing and Finance to accommodate new 24-bed ward.
