Mazenod College

Having provided for the academic demands of the student body, Mazenod College sought to fulfill the pressing need for a central sporting complex that housed a multitude of activities. Given the schools excellent record in Volleyball and Chess, the centre needed to accommodate a diversity of activities and function as the primary assembly space for the entire student body.
The complex was designed to bookend a previous project completed by us on the College’s campus. As such the building incorporates similarly dynamic forms, which is the new architectural language of the College, reflecting a progressive academic and social philosophy. The materials employed include expansive areas of copper cladding, metallic siding and glass.
The brief included the provision of the following:
– International standard volleyball court
– Assembly for 1500 people
– Function/Chess room
– 1 x Basketball court
– 2 x Volleyball courts
– 4 x Badminton courts
– 8 x Table tennis tables
– Change rooms
– Office accommodation
– Basement car park
