About This Project

Embracing a more open workplace can be challenging for staff accustomed to their own office. The office fit out at Deakin University, Waurn Ponds campus in Geelong was created with a variety of work environments responding to the functions accommodated. Open plan areas were designed to retain privacy while encouraging collaboration. A quiet reading room provides a comfortable place to  “lock away” and focus – important while reviewing complex research proposals. The Deakin University Research Office was a cost effective project delivered by Cotter Reid Architects in 2010. Many educational as well as corporate workplaces all adopt this open plan and hot desk approach to the work environment.
