Burwood Campus, Victoria
Deakin University Higher Degree / Research Students have traditionally been provided with tiny carrels, crammed into poorly serviced spaces. This potentially limits productivity and creativity required by students to operate at their peak. This project refurbished a standard classroom to become a high quality academic studio for individual study, group discussion and debate. Custom tables and highly functioning cabinetry have created a study environment befitting tomorrows researchers and lecturers. Directors of Cotter Reid Architects were architectural students at Deakin University and have thoroughly enjoyed ‘giving back’ to the University utilising their leanings for future students across many campus sites, buildings and faculties.
